It’s looking right now that the decision to let Houston go was a bad one. Men like Houston Fancher are becoming a rarity apparently. Men who care more about the development of their student-athletes than they do about their paycheck. Buzz Peterson made no difference at all at App. He will be quickly forgotten.

Buzz was making far more working for the Bobcats than what he ended up making at App. If it’s all about money for him, don’t leave your job in Charlotte and commit to a school only to flake out later…especially for a lower-tier athletic program in Wilmington. Next stop Cullowhee?

“I never thought his loyalty and dedication as a coach depended on how much his next paycheck was going to be. Many have lost total respect for him.”
If I offered to double your salary if you quit your job to work for me, you wouldn’t consider it? Don’t be ridiculous.

Coaches are now following players in the one and done scenario. Buzz has disappointed a lot of people in Boone that were excited about him being back. I never thought his loyalty and dedication as a coach depended on how much his next paycheck was going to be. Many have lost total respect for him.

I very much hope our guys get to play UNCW in the next season or two. Perfereably with the Buzzard still there coaching. But I’m afraid that is asking too much of their new coach. Will he still be there in November?

Its extremely sad when a coach cares more about his own ego than the players he is leaving behind. College athletics should be more about the student athletes and less about the ego of a man like Buzz Peterson.
