Jersey Good as Gold

Appalachian State plans to wear the gold jerseys, used in the homecoming game against N.C. Central and sold in an online auction for the ASU Football Foundation on GoASU.com, in Saturday’s game at Furman.

The No. 14 jersey worn by Armanti Edwards sold for $1,200.

Edwards was told about the amount and said that little surprises him these days.

“It would have a couple of years ago,” Edwards said.

“It just shows how much the fans appreciate us here at Appalachian.”

The jerseys will be shipped to the auction winners next Monday.

Edwards laughed when it was suggested that he best not tear the jersey when it’s worn for the final time Saturday.

“You’ll have to tell the Furman guys that,” Edwards said.
