Chill Out

This Sunday, consider heading over to Grace Court Park in the West End if you’ve got a hankering for ice cream (uh, when wouldn’t that be?).

The Shalom Project and Green Street Church will be raising money with all things chilly - ice cream, and the opportunity to view some of Winston-Salem’s celebrities as they cool for a bit, sitting on ice from 3 to 6 p.m. Cost is $10 per family, or $5 per adult, $3 per child. Mayor Joines, Cameron Kent, Dan Besse, Molly Leight and others on ice? Priceless.

I confess - what really got my attention was the fact that volunteers are making homemade ice cream for the event.

And they say if you have any homemade ice cream you’d like to churn up for a good cause, bring some by.

The Shalom Project is a joint effort between Green Street Church and the West Salem neighborhood. It includes an after school tutoring and childcare program, a free computer lab and classes, a medical clinic and a food pantry and clothing closet.
