Sadly, a Chicken Has Just Two Legs

My children are coming over to the dark side.

My wife eats only the white meat of chicken. For a long time, my children did, too.

I’ll eat white meat, but I much prefer dark meat.

It didn’t bother me that everyone else in the house liked white meat. That meant just more dark-meat leftovers for me.

Eventually, my daughter, now 11, started requesting the leg when we had roast chicken for dinner.

Now my 5-year-old son is copying his sister and learning that dark meat has a lot more flavor than white meat.

The other day, after serving them both legs from a roast chicken, my daughter asked, “Are there any more legs?”

I responded with another question: “How many legs do you think a chicken has?”

I tried to tell her that chickens have three legs, but that didn’t work.

So I’m down to just two thighs for myself everytime we have a roast chicken.

I’m beginning to wish that chickens did have three legs.
