Tons of Tomatoes

Mark the date:

The Journal’s annual tomato tasting will be from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Dixie Classic farmers market.

David Bare, our gardening columnist, and I will be out there slicing and dicing and serving up a ton of free tomatoes.
We expect to have 40 or more different varieties.

Come eat, learn just how different tomatoes can taste, and tell us your favorite varieties.

As a bonus, Chef Stephanie Tyson of Sweet Potatoes restaurant will bring some free samples of tomato-basil soup and a green tomato carpaccio with corn and cucumbers.
