Dan - I wrote the following comment to you/Coach Bzdelik after your blog entry “A Decision Left Unexplained”:

The only thing more tired than rehashing the same information about this topic time and time again is listening to Coach Bz talk about how great Colorado basketball is this season.  Coach Bz, if your reading this - nobody in Wake Forest Country cares about Colorado. The Buffs aren’t relevant in the college basketball world.  I’m not sure they are the equivalent of a mid-major team.  Wow - they might make the NCAA Tourney this year.  Awesome!  Wake was ranked #1 in the country two short years ago.  Please, for the sanity of Deacon fans everywhere, no more talk about Colorado.  Stop resting on your laurels - and accomplish something in the ACC.  You’ve got all the job security in the world (your boss can’t fire you because to do so would be to admit that he botched the entire situation surrounding the hiring process plus yall have that non-friendship from back in the day).  Dan - either bring us the dirt or give it a rest. . . .

Dan - you are doing an awesome job covering the state of Wake Basketball Program.  But I beg of you - please don’t enable Coach Bzdelik by asking him about Colorado, Air Force, the Nuggets, or any other basketball program at which he has had such amazing success.  Has he won a NCAA Tournament game in his coaching career?  Wake Fans don’t care about his coaching prowess before his arrival on campus.  It actually is painful to hear our coach and Athletic Director attempt to defend/justify his hiring with all of the references to Colorado basketball.  If he would just stop taking about Colorado, some Wake fans might actually give him a chance next year to get past this historically terrible season.  We don’t want to be Colorado and we don’t care about Colorado. Coach Bzdelik has gotten off to a very “Rockie” start - the Colorado references are making it worse for him.  Dan - do him a solid and try to steer him away from all the Colorado talk in the future.

KK, if you read my post you would see that I am not a Buzz hater.  If I was I also believe that getting people to vote with their wallets in this town is a lost cause.

I hope this “sticking with the program” stuff works out, but I have my doubts. There’s nothing that has been said by Bzdelik that leads me to believe anything will be any different next season. I won’t be surprised if there aren’t a couple more defections in the next several weeks. It’s really hard to watch this program go the way it has.

Dan - A national columnist said “My sources at the ACC Tournament said that Jeff Bzdelik will not be at Wake Forest long, and that he’s going to go back and take the job in the NBA.”

You need to cancel your season tickets immediately. Voting with our wallets is the only way that Ron will get rid of his buddy Buzz. We have to force his hand!

Dan, good interview that I hope helped everyone to understand Coach Bz a little more. It helped me to be much more informed about his character, style and plans for the team.  I think his coaching philosophy is solid and will benefit this program if he sticks around.  I do feel he needs to get the chip off his shoulder and show the maturity and strength that he apparently demands of his team.  It was a frustrating and confusing year and made me consider ending my 10 year run as a season ticket holder.  This interview helped me decide to continue as a season ticket holder believing that I will see better team basketball next season.

I’m sure i speak for all of us when I say that we appreciate all the work you do and your writting.  I agree with BRHDeac that he could use a publicist. lol He needs coaching on what to say and how to interact with the media.  Thanks again

Wow.  Coach Bz needs a good PR person more than good recruits.  Defensive, prickly, whiney, and faulting his players repeatedly.  He’s in a tough spot for sure - but he is not making it any easier on himself.
