Dan,
I’m sorry that you will be missing the black and gold scrimmage. I will also be soaking up the game in Annapolis (pun intended). Hopefully the Deacs make your decision worthwhile by coming through with a victory.
I have so many questions about the Wake Forest basketball team heading into the year:
Who is going to step up and be our go-to 2 guard? L.D. has established himself as the type of role player and leader that every successful team needs. But unless he has dramatically improved his shooting, we need another guard to step in to complement Ish during long stretches of every game. Is CJ Harris going to be ready to assume some of this burden? Will Gary Clark turn the corner this year? Or can we assume that the reason Coach Gaudio is thinking of trying Ari Stewart at the two because he does not have confidence in the shooting guards currently on the roster?
What kind of impact, if any, has Rusty Larue had on the guards so far? Related to that, our team last year was fairly abysmal when it came to shooting the three-pointer. Konner Tucker is reported to be a good shooter, so hopefully he will help improve the team’s shooting. Has three-point shooting been a point of emphasis for the players during the offseason?
How many times this season will TV announcers describe Chas McFarland as “chippy”?
Where is Ty Walker in his development? He seemed to get good reviews from practices last year. Tony Woods was able to get more playing time seemingly because he was more physically developed than Walker. Has he been able to refine some of his offensive skills over the offseason?
I’m just getting warmed up, but there will be plenty of time for basketball discussion. This weekend the focus is on Navy. Have a good trip!
