Now that Deacon Baseball has a head coach opening, I wonder what that chances are of getting Moranda to come over from Western Carolina?  I believe you hit the nail on the head…recruiting suffered after he left for GT.

Very funny. The scorebook was misplaced, not lost. It just hasn’t been found yet.

Dan, thanks for finally plugging your two cents about baseball.  When did the number of scholarships change? It used to be 13, the NCAA maximum. On another note, Greer’s three championships may have been one of the greatest achivements in WFU sports, but it came with some baggage.  22 years ago next week you quoted a player who said, “...along the way, alot of people will get stepped on.”  And they did, especially those that weren’t his recruits. Good riddance to the Koons and Greer era.

You are correct, sir.  No idea why I threw Georgia Tech in there.  Been a long day already, unfortunately.

Still—there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be competitive with schools like Elon and Coastal Carolina in baseball, in my eyes at least.

Great to have Rusty back in the fold, btw.

Chris,
My buddy does keep a mean scorebook, when he doesn’t lose it.
I can’t argue about the success of Miami, USC, Stanford and Rice (GT, unless I’m mistaken, is public). All that does seem counter-intuitive, doesn’t it? Each school, though, has its own ways of allotting financial aid. I just couldn’t figure out how Greer was doing it even when he was doing it.

Dan:
Your friend keeps a mean scorebook, I hear.  I think you’re right to an extent—but I also look at schools like Miami, Stanford, Georgia Tech, Rice, Southern Cal, etc. that are all private that all have pretty strong baseball programs.  In fact, I could argue that no two programs have been better over the years than Miami and USC. . .
