GB, The trip was approved. I didn’t go because of the weather. I planned to drive, but icy roads up and down West Virginia mountains convinced me to pull the plug and monitor the game from home. Coach Bzdelik was good enough to call, so I was able to interview him. I always feel bad to miss a game. Trips are considered on a game-by-game basis, but cost, stakes, time of start and available man power all come into play. Ultimately the call is made by those with a higher pay rank than mine, but again, this one was approved. So it’s on me.

I will never forget Rodney’s 360 dunk against UNC in the Joel in 1992 on the night that Randolph hit 3 pointers on 6 straight possessions and Dean Smith refused to call timeout after the first 2 or 3 to get somebody to get in his jockstrap! It was deafening in the Joel as we won by about 30 points. Rodney’s thunder dunks in Cameron were pretty nice too—I think Rodney scored 36 there once.
What a player!!!!! Best forward to ever play for WFU IMO.

Dan, are you now classified as a “semi-beat writer” since you are not sent to cover away Wake games, such as Xavier?
What are the criteria for your attending away games?

Thanks for the information! Rogers has been and always will be my favorite Deacon. The complete player, power inside, rebound, or step back and sink a 3 pointer. Above all else, a good person, who loves WFU and Durham. Best of everything Rodney!

I will never, ever forget his 360 dunk against the Heels. I was 12 years old and he was and still is my hero. Look it up on youtube, it is worth the time. You’ll also see the link to the time he scored 9 points in 9 seconds as a pro…

I wish I had the 92-93 season on DVD so whenever Wake is scheduled to play this year, I could throw-in the disc and pretend to be watching Wake Forest basketball. The haircuts in the old footage may ruin that idea. Either way, Rodney Rogers is one of the best basketball players I have ever seen. He did it all.

Dan - while we are on the subject of contacts, is the same address good for contacting Dino Gaudio? I wanted to send him a note of support after last season - to let him know that all Deacon fans weren’t calling for his head - but I couldn’t find any way to get in touch with him.
Thanks!

Congratulations, Merry Christmas and continued well wishes to Rodney! He was a friendly, charasmatic Deac and he continues to do wonderful things with his life. Rodney, you really are da man!

My card is in the outbox waiting for Lynne to make her evening trip to the post office for the day.
I hope everyone else will take a few moments and do the same.
Merry Christmas
