Ty should be playing 28 mpg. We should not be playing 3 Gs. But not because Ty’s a tremendous talent or because there is any flaw in playing 3 Gs.

Ty should be playing 28 mpg because he is our only true C, and as I’ve stated before, you can’t teach 7ft tall. Carson is not a post player and never will be. It’s simply not his skill set.

We shouldn’t play 3Gs, not because of our Gs, but rather because of our Fs. The WG replaces the SF. SF is our best, deepest position. Probably 2 of our 3 best players are 3s. Why play twin 2s when you have capable 3s? It doesn’t make a lot of sense.

We should play Ty in the post all that his body and foul count will allow. We should start Carson and play Nikita at 4. We should start Trav at 3, Gary at 2 and CJ on the point. Then bring in JT and Ari for instant offense off the bench.

I continue to play the comment over in my head made by Bzdelick after the Clemson game that went unquestioned by any of the so called sports journalist which went something like, “I got them (players) to the rim, what more can you ask of a Coach”? Then two days later Coach opens up the practice to the fans so he can (in my opinion)prove to the fans he is doing all he can do. There must be pressure otherwise he would not have done this.
In the confines of Joel when you are not matching up against tough teams that beat us this year like Stetson or VMI anyone can look and sound like a Coach. But when you are in a game and must design plays under game conditions for offense or defence it is another matter indeed. Too many times this year and especially in the last few games coming out of a timeout where you would expect a decent play design and our guys come out and shoot balls off the side of the board, or other ridiculous plays which give further proof this Coach is so lost and unable to motivate these great freshmen. Why is it that so many other freshmen in the leauge who were rated lower than any of WF except Barnes from NC developed so much more in other programs? What amazes me is that Dan is so close to all of this and could really make a difference. What would happen if circulation at WS Journal dropped lower than any other newpaper in the Country. Do you think he would start asking tough questions then?

Perhaps!!
I agree with Joel D, Dan if you really feel what you wrote here, then show us by starting as Joel wrote, “Pull the tape off your mouth” and start asking some tough questions and keep at it until they tell you to stop or they won’t answer you.
Otherwise, I will continue to believe real sports journalism is dead at the WS Journal.

One thing I’m 100% certain of is that I have learned more about how to lose with talented players watching Wake the last 10 years than ever in my life. From a group of people who declare that they ‘hate to lose’ (makes em sound tough). People should be shocked that anyone still watches at all.

What am I going to learn from people who defend a system that has accomplished a LAST place finish in 3 of the last 10 years.  I’m looking forward to the ACC tournament to see good teams play (not Wake).

Wake Forest is a joke. It’s not a joke because of the players. Ty gets 5 boards in 14 mins and doesn’t miss a shot. . . but the worst team in history can’t find a spot for him because TY is ‘bad’

I’ll always be an alumni. But you get what you deserve. Wake deserves Bz, that’s why you are stuck with him. I think I’ll join my friends, family, and neighbors in mocking Wake.  I got to remember a wake fan anonymously called ME a fool for pointing out WHY YOU LOSE.

Wake Forest. . . a waste of tuition even with a scholarship. #tigerblood

Wow. For a comparison to Wake basketball we have to reference working in a war zone. That is a sad commentary on the state of this program. What more of an indictment of Bzdelick do you need.
Not that Brian T. needs my support, but it is insanity to continue to play small ball while continually getting beat on the inside. Last game Buzz did start 2 forwards in the second half. I hope that was not a one time thing. We will see Tommorrow if Buzz has learned anything at all this season.

Now, that’s a good post, Deacon23!  However, you know this could unleash four or five columns from briant on how major college basketball should be played.

Brian T:

If in fact you have been silenced for the last 10 years you have definitely made up for lost time. Silence is sometime a good thing…...it is better to be thought a fool that to open you mouth and remove all doubt! We hear you…..no three guard lineup and play Ty until the opposing post players (and most the guards as well) push him out of the Joel into the fair grounds. Women’s golf is right around the corner thank the Almighty!

Deacon23 on 03/02/2011 (4:12 pm)

It IS just a game after all.  But that’s what makes it so frustrating that people are so rigid in supporting failure.

If it’s not important (basketball is just a game), then why not try something different? If a coach going through the worst season in history isn’t willing to try anything different (ie a big lineup), it will never happen.

I’ve been silenced the last 10 years due to the hype of success during the regular season with our 3 guard lineup (although I believe this is the 3rd year of the last 10 that Wake has finished LAST (12th?) in the ACC). If it works, I support it.  But nothing this coach has done this season has worked. He expects me to support it without any changes.

It’s just a game, but Bz makes a good living failing for everyone else. I fail too, but when I fail, it’s a personal failure. When Bz fails, he fails for everyone associated with the Wake program.

Brian Thacker on 03/02/2011 (11:41 am)

Tough comparison, but I get the point. For Wake to fall this far, this fast is almost beyond comprehension. However, reality often defies comprehension. It seems so unacceptable on so many levels, all of which have been eloquently noted in prior posts. I have been reduced to posting as it is cheaper than a visit to a counselor for my near depression over Wake athletics. I remain hopeful that our new Quarterback can help us forget the basketball season altogether.

It seems you have finally given up on the Deacons too with this Blog. Are you looking forward to a Job change with Bozo and Wellman ?...Tell The People of Winston Salem how you feel about the Needs of the Fans…Stand up for the Deacon Nation and Call For Change ! Open The Curtain Dan !  Pull the tape off your mouth that the “Evils of Wake Forest” have placed over it !  Do the right thing Dan Collins for the Fans of the Deacon Nation . They need you !

Joel D on 03/02/2011 (10:25 am)

The locals love American journalists?  I don’t know if I would want to eat any “free” kabobs right now in that part of the world.  Things can change rather quickly around there.  It is definitely better at the Joel than it is in the middle of a revolution.
