I hope that Ty keeps improving; he is a nice, young man. My 8-year-old and I have had two experiences with him—one, a post-game autograph, and two, at the WFU camp this summer. On both occassions, he was kind to my son. He was also polite and respectful to me. I always tell my son, who plays basketball, to watch Ty on the bench. Even though he does not get a lot of minutes, he is always ready to come in when asked. Let’s hope he matures his skills and his mindset.

Adidashba,
Once a player plays, the only way he can recover that year’s eligibility is through a hardship waiver granted because of injury.

Dan - fantastic job as always. Great contrast from covering a senior who just played his last home game in football to a guy who hasn’t seen that much playing time in his young basketball career in back to back blogs.

Does this mean that he is still considering a red shirt this season, or does playing in the ORU and ECU games prevent him from doing that? When would be the game he would have to decide by if not already?

Hopefully Ty Walker takes advantage of his opportunity to learn and develop this year because we’re going to need him next year with Weaver and McFarland (and probably Aminu) gone.
At times yesterday he looked like he could be an awesome player with a nice left-handed hook shot and a monster block that started a fast break. But at some point he will have to trust his talent and strength a little more in order to stop playing so tentatively.

This story is starting to look a lot like Loren Woods.

Thanks for the article, Dan. If Ty really means what he said in the last two paragraphs - if he has that understanding on both an intellectual and an emotional level - he will play a lot of meaningful minutes at Wake. I think every Wake fan is really hoping Ty can live up to his billing. I am betting he can and will.
