Dan,

In this case, it seems like the “wrong question” may have received a more insightful response than would have been the case had you asked the right question.  Nevertheless, it sure doesn’t seem inappropriate to wonder whether a kid has the mentality necessary to be a good football player when he hasn’t displayed the motivation necessary to keep his weight under control and learn the offense.

On the bright side, Coach Grobe did mention that Dennis Godfrey was playing well so far.  Hopefully the possibility of starting will motivate him to take his game (mental and physical) to another level.  Considering the coaching staff has had three years to get to know him, hopefully they can help him along the way.  We need that offensive line to be strong this year.

Dan, Wasn’t Godfrey set back a little by a legal issue that delayed his enrollment at WFU? Or something close to that. If he can give the Deacs 2 solid years on the O line, he will have met my expectations. It’s got to be tough to change positions and be mentally ready the first week. Until further notice, I’ll give Dennis the benefit of the doubt.
