Daniel33,
The player who threw the elbow and was thrown out of the game was available. The player who was hit in the mouth by the elbow was not. I found that curious. As it turned out, Bzdelik and McKie had to speak for Wood, who told them he didn’t think the elbow was intentional. It’s always better to get such information first hand. We didn’t have that opportunity. I recognize N.C. State was on the road, but at Maryland the other night the Wake locker room was open after the game. It was an observation to point out how Wake allows more access to its players. But in fairness to N.C. State, it allows more access than many other places. It’s as much a sign of the times as anything. For more on that point, check out my chat with Barry Jacobs.

Why call out NCSU over making two players available?

A credit to McKie, as well as C.J., Chase, and Ty for their candidness yesterday with us media folk, all things considered. That was mighty big of them to stand there and answer every question thrown at them. I give them tons of credit for that.

this was an unfortunate situation, but I don’t think it was intentional. Certainly there was frustration, but I think it was more of a reflex action to extend the elbow. With that said, I don’t think there is any real respect between the team and coach. the players are certainly not putting forth the type of effort that you see from teams with coaches that require 100% efforts, and have the players complete respect..This coach has got to go.
