It’s hard to argue with Ken, especially when you consider Bzdelik’s overall body of work, not just his time at Wake. It is becoming increasingly difficult to be hopeful about Wake Forest basketball. It is generally painful to watch.

I just finished watching the Wake-Clemson game. There has been a lot of dicussion lately about whether or not Bzdelik should be allowed to continue at Wake. For what it is worth my answer is no.
I think there is almost no-one who would be willing to bet their own money that Bzdelick will have ultimate success at Wake. The argument is that Bzdelick has not been given enough time to show what he can do. I will agree that there is a chance that the past 1 1/2 years of evidence is insufficient to be sure that Bzdelick will not succeed. I personally think that the chances are much less than 5%. I will agree that there is some chance that he will work out, but I think it is very low.
I think that we are asking the wrong question if we ask “Are we being fair to Bzdelik?”. The more important questions is “Are we doing what is best for Wake Forest Basketball?”. I do see improvement from last year (almost imposiible not to). I think the team is playing hard and mostly together and they are trying to do what Bzdelik is teaching. I think the problem is in what Bzdelik is teaching. Our offense is very hard to watch. There is no attempt to feed the low post. We have to work so hard to get off a jump shot. The percentages just will never work out.
I think Coach Buzz has a ceiling of about 8 conference wins in a year if he is able to get his ideal class as veterans. This offense appers similar to watch as Herb Sendeck’s offense. When it clicks perfectly, it is adequate. Otherwise it can look down right depressing.
This past game, I almost fell asleep. In the past, win lose or draw, I was always at the game or glued to the TV. I may have left the game angry or disappointed, but never bored and sleepy.
I think this is the real danger of where we are going. Apathy.
If we look at NC State’s once proud program. They left mediocre to bad coaches in place for 5 years or more at a time. They have had a lost generation. Their one time rival UNC no longer bothers to care. We cannot afford to give Bzdelick 4-5 years. I think we all know the eventual result. We need to pull the trigger now while there is still something to salvage. To succeed in the ACC you have to be an exceptional coach. There is nothing that shows we have that currently.
