About Me

I have been employed by the Journal as a high-school sports reporter since 1992. I don’t consider myself old, still hanging (by a thread) on the good side of 40, but I have been here long enough to find a certain comfort level in how we do things.

But times are a changing, and proof of that comes with the Journal’s first prep sports blog, to be primarily manned by yours truly, with potential updates from our cast of stringers who help us by covering games in various sports throughout the school year.

During a typical week, I talk at great length with plenty of coaches and athletes, and a good portion of those interviews/discussions never see the light of day in our newspaper, where space is limited. There is no limit to the space on this blog, and so I plan to fill it with informative bits that I pick up in those conversations, occasionally tossing my opinion out on certain subjects and always asking for the reader’s opinion on what might make this space more interesting.

Really, there will be very few restraints on what can be covered here, as long as the subjects are related to high-school sports.

So please feel free to comment here or email me with any suggestions on discussion topics or any questions you might have. I’ll try my best to answer them all as honestly as I can.
