Went to Mount Airy-Robbinsville game. Like a senseable guy with a cold, sore throat, and runny rose, I left when the Bears made one more of numerous misques and the score moved out to 26-13 with 7 plus mimutes left int he game.
Mount Airy was deflated, dejected, hobbying, hurt and defeated.
Ohyea of little faith. Thank goodness I had the radio on and listened to one great coming together by a group of kids and coaching staff that had to turn to faith, grit, and a series of great plays.
They did what they had to do when they “had” to do it, not when they should have done it. Take nothing away from the best team that the Bears have faced this year (including Thomasville and Starmount), Mount Airy stopped themselves which so many uncharacteristic mistakes. Add that the most dangerous weapon-Luke Wheeler- played most of the game with one hand, literaly, the fact that they are playing next Saturday is attestament to magic of the best their is life.
Hope you got to see it.

A question of many is should the playoffs been expanded to 32 teams per division. I did some after 3 rounds.
17 Undefeated teams started the playoffs (including Asheville which did have one tie). Each division except 3-AA had at least one undefeated team. The 3-A group actually had 4.
While of those 17 lost in the first round, four lost in the second round and four more lost in the 3rd round. Only two were defeated by another undefeated team, and both of these matchups of undefeateds happened in the third round (2-AA East and 3-A West).
Looking at the additional 16 teams (8 in the East and 8 in the West), assuming no seedings changes would have happened if the additional teams had not been added, none of the 15 or 16 seeds advanced to the second round.
Of the 22 9 to 14 seeds did pull off upsets and moved to the second round. 16th seed Surry Central lost 20-17 to Starmount and Eastern Guilford lost to #1 South Johnston 10-7.
Seven of the #9 to #14’s moved on to the third round. Four (#11 Southern Nash 3-AA, #12 Anson 3-AA, #9 Kinston 2-AA and #9 Lexington 2-A) advancing to the Regional Championship Game.
Nine undefeated teams will be playing for regional Championships with only 3-AA not having an undefeated in either Championship game. The 1-AA and 4-AA divisions are the only ones that have two undefeated teams in the bracket and no Regional Championship Games features two undefeated teams.
The 4-AA regional Championship games have the best overall record featuring two undefeated #1 seeds and two once beaten teams seeded number #2 and #3.
The The 3-AA Championship features a #12seeded Anson County, #11 Southern Nash, #7 Belmont south Point and #1 seed South Johnston.
