The Final Push for North Carolina

In the final full week of the 2008 presidential campaign, North Carolina’s 15 electoral votes are still very much up for grabs, and the campaigns are fighting hard for them. Both presidential candidates, and both of their running mates, are visiting North Carolina this week.
Sarah Palin held a rally in Asheville yesterday that could be described as a mix of singing and zinging.
Today, Joe Biden is going green: he has rallies first in Greenville and then in Greensboro. No word yet on whether he’ll talk about the environment.
On Tuesday, John McCain will be in Fayetteville. And on Wednesday, Barack Obama will return to North Carolina at a location that has not yet been announced.
Even the Libertarian candidate for president, Bob Barr, is visiting North Carolina. On Wednesday evening, he will be speaking at UNC Chapel Hill and Duke University.

Education does not equal experience. For those of you who might be worried about the Obama tax plan check out this site. And this was when the figure was at $250k, I heard ths morning that it is down to $120k.

I have lived in North Carolina for over a quarter of a century and have never seen this level of involvement before. It is exciting to be part of a state that actually is in play. I have noticed that even people who never before payed much attention to politics are actively seeking out information on the candidates and are educating themselves on the issues. This is democracy in action. It is unfortunate that when we see ourselves as a solidly red or blue state most voters do not actively engage in the political process. I hope we all learn from this, and keep North Carolina a state that not only votes, but thinks as well.

It is embarrassing to see Sarah Palin campaigning with “Joe the plumber”- this guy initially misled us all with his question to Senator Obama and even though he came clean and admitted he would not be taxed under the Obama/Biden tax reform plan he is still leading the uninformed public to believe that if you relate to him you would be better off under McCain/Palin. I don’t make a quarter of a million dollars a year and neither does he- but if you do then don’t let a tax-increase of 3% cloud your better judgement on which President AND Vice-President is the most educated and qualified to turn our country around. Sarah Palin is attractive but that only goes so far-and as far as military service-keep in mind Dan Quayle served our country at the same time as John McCain. Our country deserves more than either of those two can offer us.
