Devin Radford

Devin Radford feels better, and it showed in Appalachian State’s season-opening victory over Chattanooga.

Radford rushed for 85 yards on 11 carries, and had a highlight 50-yard run.

“My knee hasn’t hurt since last year,” said Radford, a senior who had surgery on his left kneecap in December.

“The surgery turned out great, the rehab went great and Coach (Mike Kent) has gotten me stronger. My knee feels great. This is as healthy as I’ve been since I’ve first got here.”

Radford rushed for 520 yards and four touchdowns in 2008 after transferring from Virginia Tech. Last year, he had just 62 yards rushing and missed four games late in the season with the knee ailment.
