Clinton Will Do N.C. Debate

Hillary Clinton says she wants to debate Barack Obama in North Carolina on April 27.

On her conference call with North Carolina reporters this afternoon, Clinton said she has accepted an offer by CBS to participate in a debate. The date, time and format have not yet been worked out.

No word yet on whether Obama agrees to the April 27 debate.

Previously, Obama had accepted an offer by CBS to debate in North Carolina on April 19, but Clinton never accepted that offer.

The Charlotte Observer‘s Campaign Tracker blog reports that CBS News and the N.C. Democratic Party have formally invited both candidates to debate on April 27, either at the N.C. Blumenthal Center in Charlotte or at N.C. State University in Raleigh. That would disappoint Wake Forest University, which had hoped to host a debate.
