McCain to Visit Winston-Salem on May 6

You thought two presidential candidates crisscrossing North Carolina wasn’t enough? Make it three.

Trail Mix has learned that John McCain will campaign at Wake Forest University on the day of the North Carolina primary.

McCain will speak at the university’s Wait Chapel on the morning of May 6, according to a campaign source. The speech is open to the public, and details are expected to be announced later this week.

McCain will also be campaigning in North Carolina on May 5, including one stop in Charlotte, according to the source.

It will be interesting to see how much attention he can grab away from Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton as they vie in the state’s crucial Democratic primary. And it will be interesting what sort of reception McCain gets from North Carolina Republicans, given that he has harshly criticized this ad from the N.C. GOP.
