Contrary to a popular stereotype, vegetarians are not all champions of self-denial, pathetically munching a sprout on the sidelines while watching the omnivores have all the culinary fun. Instead, the vegetarians we know love good food and know where to get it. They aren't about to settle for a bland meal, either at home or at a restaurant.

After searching years for a china pattern I could call my own, I finally found THE ONE. Lenox. Spring Vista I believe it was called---I’ve been trying very hard to forget about it all together. I was so excited, especially after giving up on one 20 years ago because it was bone china. I wrote to Lenox and the spokesperson confirmed ‘my’ pattern I wanted so much did contain bone ash. Sigh. Back to the internet. I’m glad there are more of us out there though, and our relatively minor disappointments are all worth it. :)

Congratulations on not buying the teapot! My decision to become vegetarian 37 years ago and vegan 5 years ago is purely due to my conscience. You followed your conscience in your decision. I know a lot of people who eat meat even though they tell me it “bothers” their conscience. We all make allowances - nothing is perfect. I agree that we vegans cannot be “self righteous” about the decisions we make. I personally have seen the vegan vegetarian population grow from my beginning in 1971 and believe it will continue to do so, but still think it’s a very personal choice that ultimately affects the whole planet!
