JournalNow.com: Veggin' Out

Contrary to a popular stereotype, vegetarians are not all champions of self-denial, pathetically munching a sprout on the sidelines while watching the omnivores have all the culinary fun. Instead, the vegetarians we know love good food and know where to get it. They aren't about to settle for a bland meal, either at home or at a restaurant.

Anne and Wes were a great team spreading the beneficial words of plant-based diet for decades. I’ll miss Anne. http://www.legacy.com/WinstonSalem/DeathNotices.asp?Page=Lifestory&PersonId=85910778 gives details about a celebration of her life this Sunday - I’ll copy the text here in case the link stops working at some point.

Anne Pearce Weaver, 85, of Winston-Salem passed away Jan. 7, 2007. She was born July 12, 1921, in Augusta, Ga., to the late Henry Lester and Gretchen Meyer Pearce. She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Leck, John, Frank, Wig, Sid and Sam Pearce; and a niece, Judy Pearce Herring. Mrs. Weaver was actively involved in the Shepherd’s Center and the Very Vegetarian Society. She was also a charter member of Highland Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Reynolds High School in 1938, where she won two Senior Superlatives, Best All Around, and Best Athlete and graduated from UNC-G in 1942. Mrs. Weaver retired in 1983 as recreation director at the YWCA after 23 years. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Wesley Weaver Jr.; children, Wesley (Pat) Weaver III of Boone, Ron (Janice) Weaver of Roanoke, Va., and Carol (Jim) Smith of Richmond, Va.; seven grandchildren, Rachel Weaver Strife, Matt, Adam Gretchen and Shane Smith; Rebecca and Brad Weaver; two great-grandchildren, Josie and Peter Strife IV; several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Highland Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to the Shepherd’s Center, 1700 Ebert St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Very Vegetarian Society, c/o Jan Lukens, 2348 NC Hwy 65E, Walnut Cove, NC 27052.
